Statistics – as of January 4, 2015

I am starting over. I lost weight and then gained it back (and thensome) over the last couple of months. So, I am just restarting my progress for 2015. Forget about last year, it’s a new year and it’s time to go!

Height: 5’7″
Current Weight: 310.0 lbs
Current BMI: 48.5
Hips: 55 inches
Waist: 58 inches
Bust: 51 inches

Words cannot express how disheartening it is to see the scale go up when you so badly want it to go down. I mean, it’s not like I was actively working towards losing weight (as I addressed in my last post, life took over) but it’s still depressing.

BUT it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life, as the song goes. So here we are, once again, a fresh start.

I have recently gotten into yoga. I have been interested in doing it forever, but of course, never made time for it in my schedule. Over the Christmas break, my cousin (an avid yogi) insisted that I tag along with her to a class: it was low-key, done in her friend’s basement (the friend is a certified instructor) and I felt so good afterwards, physically and mentally that I wanted to do it. So, I dusted off my yoga dvds (despite never using them, I have half a dozen) and have started doing it. I’m really not very flexible right now, so half the time I can’t even do the moves, but I do the best that I can and it makes me feel good, so that’s all that matters, I figure.

I have also started the “Buzzfeed Get Fit Challenge”. There has been a lot of research done which suggests that shorter, intense workouts do better in the long run than longer, less intense workouts. I mean, obviously, any exercise is better than nothing, but I figured that I would try this challenge and see if doing intense stuff makes a difference. I still plan on doing my longer workouts, like walking or swimming or skating, but those will be on the mandated “rest” days, just a bit of light exercise because I enjoy doing those things.

Anyway, I am feeling pretty positive about things. Here’s to a great January! Cheers and happy losing!

Progress Update – as of March 12, 2014

Height: 5’7″
Current Weight: 296.0 lbs
Gain: 1.0 lbs
Current BMI: 46.4
Gain: 0.2

This week was even more stressful than the last two weeks and it apparently got the better of me. But no matter, because I am now on my way to New Zealand!! I am sitting in the Vancouver airport as we speak, waiting for my flight out. It is very exciting.

What I Did Really Well This Week:

1) I got a lot of sleep, so that’s something. But that’s about it, I didn’t track or eat well really, nor did I exercise.

What I Can Improve On:

1) Everything, in a nutshell.

How I Feel:

Hopeful!!! Very, very, very hopeful. Why, you might ask? Well, because I have a lot of bad eating habits. I have been working hard to conquer those, but like anyone, I am not perfect. In New Zealand, I will not have access to a vehicle, so I won’t be able to run out late at night to grab a burger or whatever. Additionally, eating out in New Zealand is expensive, so I plan to cook as much as possible to save money and that, of course, means that I can pick exactly what is going into my meals and thus ensure that I am eating lots of nutritious food. I also plan to do a lot of hiking and walking around NZ. It’s a gorgeous country and going hiking or walking is a great (and free!) way to see the country. I bought myself a new camera recently, so I’m looking forward to going on nice walks and getting some great snapshots.

Note: I do not know if I will have access to a scale from now on. I will be staying with family for a bit, then hosteling about, then hopefully getting an apartment, but I don’t know if there will be scales at any of my relative’s houses or if my potential roommates will have one. I doubt I will buy one myself, so it’s possible that I won’t be able to actually weigh in regularly. However, I will continue to update and measure every week (or more) so no worries!

My Statistics – as of December 5, 2013

In order to accurately keep track of my progress, I am going to weigh myself once a week and post it on this blog along with my measurements, which I will take once a month.

Current Stats – 05/12/2013

Height: 5′ 7″
Weight: 303.2 lbs
BMI: 47.5
Bust: 50 in.
Waist: 56 in.
Hips: 51.5 in.
Pants/Dress Size: 20

The only thing I don’t know is what my body fat percentage is. My BMI is extremely high, obviously, but I also have a lot of muscle on my frame, so I suspect that my body fat percentage is lower than my BMI would suggest. Either way though, it doesn’t matter. I have to lose weight.
