I’m hoooome!

Well.

New York is CRAZY. I enjoyed it, but I am absolutely, without a doubt NOT a city person by any means. I grew up on an acreage and when I was younger, I thought I wanted to live in some big city, but I have learned over the years that I am not suited for that lifestyle at all.

I walked a LOT. We’re talking 8 hours a day for 6 days. A LOT. My poor feet and legs are still aching and I’m totally exhausted. Update tomorrow!

Progress Update – as of May 14, 2016

Loss: 1.0 lbs

Bust: 52 inches
Waist: 58 inches
Gain: 1 inch
Hips: 56 inches
Loss: 1 inch

So, not a lot of change, but down is better than up! Although I’m a little confused about how my waist can be bigger. Bloating, perhaps?

Anyway, the past couple of weeks have been somewhat of a whirlwind, to say the least, which is why I didn’t update.

Firstly, I somehow managed to pull a pelvic ligament. I have no idea how I did it. I went to the doctor because my lower right abdomen was hurting quite badly, so I thought “uh oh…appendicitis?” but, thankfully, it wasn’t that serious. Still, it was annoying!

Secondly, one of my childhood dogs died really suddenly, which was horrifically sad. I honestly have no idea what happened, she was healthy and acted like her normal self right up until she died. My dad found her lying on the ground, trying to get up, but she couldn’t and she passed away very quickly. I’m assuming that it was a heart attack or a stroke or something like that. She was a beautiful dog and I miss her very much, last week was a very sad one.

I won’t be doing an entry this weekend, because I won’t have access to a scale. Why, you ask? Because I’m going to NEW YORK CITY! I’ve never been, but I’m extremely excited! Frankly, life has been a little crazy lately, what with my dog’s death and some drama happening at work (oh, workplace drama!), so I am very happy to get away for a bit. Plus, I’m excited to go to a place where I will get in a lot of activity. The friend that I’m going with is a runner (that crazy woman!), so no doubt we will be hoofing it a lot of places, but that’s good. I’ve been wearing a pedometer pretty consistently for the last month or so, so I’m interested to see just how many steps I can rack up.

I’m also considering going to Philadelphia and/or Washington, D.C. for a day! There is so much history in the U.S., I’m really excited to see some places I’ve never been.

Progress Update – as of February 2, 2015

So, once again, I’m behind on my blogging. This time, it was because I got sick last week. I lost 7 lbs in about 4 days, just because I couldn’t keep anything down. Wasn’t the most pleasant, let me tell you! Then, I went on a trip to Chicago in order to do an interview with a graduate school that I am applying to and my internet access was spotty at best. Plus, I didn’t really feel like writing an entire blog post on my phone…

Side note – Chicago is awesome. I was only there for 3 days so I didn’t see a huge amount of the city, but what I did see was pretty great. I had no idea what a huge city it is; it is 45 times the population of my hometown and it is 75% of the population of my entire home province (a province is a Canadian state, if you didn’t know). In ONE city. Crazy. Needless to say, I was definitely an awestruck tourist. It was winter there, obviously, so it was kind of wet and grey, but I would love to go back again in the summer and do some more exploring, maybe catch a baseball game or something. Highly recommend, if you’re considering going there! Plus, on St. Paddy’s Day, they dye the river green!

Anyway, the point is, I am sorry for the delay! I am really going to try to keep my posting consistent, not only so that you have something to read, but also because it keeps me accountable.

What I Did Well This Week:
1) Well, I got a lot of sleep, partially because I was sick and partially because I was on vacation and I didn’t have all of the distractions at home to keep me up at night.
2) I didn’t exercise while I was sick, but I walked everywhere in Chicago, so even though I wasn’t doing a set workout, I was still getting fresh air and exercise.

What I Can Improve On:
1) Well, I did try to eat well while I was away, but I found my choices to be limited sometimes. Plus, I won’t lie, I indulged myself a little bit. There are things in the United States that we don’t have in Canada that, of course, I wanted to try (Chicago deep-dish, anyone?) so I did stray off the beaten-track a little bit, but I tried! Of course, this week, I can do better.

How I Feel:
Pretty content, but I really need to get into an exercise routine. I feel like that is my next major task.
